His Way Is Better

Today’s post is simple, but I hope it resonates with you. Personally, there are moments when life throws everything and the kitchen sink, literally, and I feel as if I need to be the one to hold it all together. However, this is not Biblical, and it's something I am having to work on. Now you might be asking yourself why I am telling this to the world. Frankly, because I want you to learn this lesson, I want my life’s example to encourage you to pursue a better, more enriched life in Christ.

We are going to do this, no matter what. We can do it in a negative way, or we can do it in a positive way. I am choosing to be vigilant about the moments when God is teaching me something and to look for opportunities to share it with you. The lesson I am learning, and want to share with you, is about waiting on the Lord. This comes in many ways, but most importantly, it comes through silence. Not emptying our minds, but rather slowing our minds and thoughts down and focusing on His Word. To make it simpler, this does not mean not doing anything, but rather being silent and allowing Him to take charge in your life. A great example of this was with Moses and God in Exodus 34:1-4. Here we see God command Moses to get ready, come in the morning, and be alone in God's presence. Moses prepares and does exactly that. In fact, Exodus 34:29-35 shows that God used that time to change Moses. Moses didn’t know it yet, but the people sure did.

We need time with Him; this is not just “Bible study time,” but a moment to truly connect and allow Him to do what is necessary for our lives. To be willing and obedient as a disciple of the Word of God. We must do this if we are ever to be effective for Him. A great example is when you are on an airplane: the safety message comes on, and they remind you that, in case of an emergency, you should put on your oxygen mask before helping others. Why? Because we are no good to others without oxygen. We need to be sustained in Christ before we can be effective for the Kingdom.

In your own life, are you giving the Lord the time needed for Him to do the work that He desires to do? Are you listening to His Word? Let’s remember to allow ourselves the moments we need in His presence for Him to do His work.

Summer Prayer Fest:

Let’s pray that the Lord opens up what He wants us doing as the fall approaches. Let this be a moment for us to magnify His name and ask what we should be getting ready to do for Him this fall. The Bible verse this week is; Proverbs 5:1-2“My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, 2 That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.”
